Our services

From a fresh start
to the finishing touches.

New homes, changes to the home you love, and more room to live outside. Matt works across Auckland, with a particular focus on East Auckland.

How the building process works

New homes

A fresh start, built around you.

Building a home starts with how you want to live. Talk to Matt about your section, the spaces you need and the plans you already have. Whether you are exploring an idea or preparing to build, the first step is to understand the scope and what needs to happen next.

What we can discuss

  • Residential building from your plans
  • Spaces planned around everyday living
  • A conversation about access, staging and finishes

Before we get started

Bring your drawings, section information and a list of priorities. Discuss the design, approvals and specialist input needed, along with your budget and preferred timing.

Renovations & extensions

More space. A better flow. A home that works for you.

Keep the home you love and make it work better. A renovation might refresh tired rooms, change the flow or open the house to the garden. An extension can create more room for family life. Talk through the existing house and the changes that would make the biggest difference.

What we can discuss

  • Alterations to existing living spaces
  • Extensions and changes to the layout
  • Connections between old and new work

Before we get started

Share existing plans or photos, the rooms affected and whether you hope to stay at home during the work. Access, services and the condition of the existing house all help shape the scope.

Re-clads

A fresh look for the place you call home.

A re-clad can give an existing home a fresh exterior while retaining the place and neighbourhood you know. Matt’s work includes re-cladding and new double glazing. Discuss the finish you want, the existing structure and how the exterior work connects with windows, doors and other parts of the house.

What we can discuss

  • Exterior cladding replacement
  • Related window and door joinery work
  • New double glazing as part of the agreed scope

Before we get started

Bring any existing drawings, reports and photos. Before pricing, discuss the condition of the house, proposed materials, access and the investigations or specialist advice your project may need.

Kitchens & bathrooms

Practical, modern spaces for everyday life.

The rooms you use most should be practical as well as good to look at. From a refreshed kitchen to a bathroom with better storage and a layout that makes sense, Matt can discuss the building work needed to bring your ideas together.

What we can discuss

  • Kitchen and bathroom renovation work
  • Layout changes and preparation for new fittings
  • Finishing details that connect the room

Before we get started

Bring photos, a rough layout and the fittings or finishes you have in mind. Discuss the building scope, plumbing and electrical work, selections and how the household will use the space during the renovation.

Decks & outdoor living

Make the most of Auckland’s outdoor lifestyle.

Make more of the space outside your back door. A deck can connect the house to the garden, create room for a table or turn an awkward level change into useful access. Matt’s photos show decks, verandahs, pergolas, spa surrounds, steps and garden walkways across a range of homes.

What we can discuss

  • Timber decks, steps and garden access
  • Pergolas and covered outdoor spaces
  • Spa surrounds and outdoor living areas

Before we get started

Think about sun, shelter, privacy and how you move between the house and garden. Share photos and rough dimensions, then discuss levels, materials, access and any design or approval requirements before the work is agreed.

Building with Matt

Good building starts
with a clear plan.

Every home and every job is different. These are the conversations to work through with Matt, from your first idea to the finishing details.

  1. Start with a conversation

Tell Matt about your home and what you want to change.

Your suburb, the type of work and a few photos are enough to start. Talk through your priorities, a budget range if you have one and when you would like the work to happen.

Bring: your ideas, suburb and preferred timing.

  2. Look at the details

Work through the house, the plans and the practicalities.

Discuss the existing conditions, site access and the drawings available. Identify decisions still to be made, along with any design, approval or specialist input the project needs.

Clarify: the site, plans and information still needed.

  3. Agree the scope & costs

Get clear about the work before making a commitment.

Work through what is included, what is excluded and which selections or allowances remain open. Discuss the proposed costs, timing and how any changes will be agreed.

Agree: a written scope, costs and next steps.

  4. Get ready to build

Put the practical arrangements in place.

Confirm the start arrangements, access, materials and the people involved. Discuss who is organising the relevant plans, approvals and specialist trades, and how the work will fit around your household.

    Plan: access, selections and responsibilities.

  5. Keep the conversation going

Stay clear on progress and decisions as the work takes shape.

Agree how you and Matt will keep in touch during the build. Work through questions as they arise and discuss the effect of a proposed change on the scope, cost and timing before proceeding.

Keep track: progress, decisions and agreed changes.

  6. Walk through the finished work

Take a closer look together before wrapping up.

Review the agreed work, note any finishing items and talk through care of the new materials or spaces. Confirm the relevant project information and documents to be handed over.

Review: the finish, care information and handover details.

A useful starting point

A few details go a long way.

Have your suburb, a few photos, any existing plans and a short list of priorities handy. If you know your preferred timing or budget range, include those too.

Start a conversation

A few questions

Before we
get started.

Ask Matt a question
Where in Auckland do you work?

We work all over Auckland, with a particular focus on East Auckland. Tell Matt your suburb and a little about the work you have in mind.

Can you work with my existing plans?

Yes—bring your existing plans to the conversation. Let Matt know what you have prepared and what stage your project is at so you can discuss the next steps together.

How do we get started?

Call Matt on 021 679 378 or send a few details using the enquiry form. Your suburb, the type of work and a short description are a good place to start. Matt can then talk through the project with you.

Can we talk before I have detailed plans?

Absolutely. You can get in touch with an early idea, a few photos or a list of things you would like to change. The first conversation is about understanding your home and what you have in mind.
